Betsy Everitt was born in Los Angeles, California. She attended UCLA and then earned her BFA from Art Center College of Design. Painting in gouache on paper, she has enjoyed a successful career illustrating for books, magazines, advertising, packaging, clothing and websites for clients such as Gap, Microsoft, Random House, Target, Yoga Journal and Hallmark. Betsy's whimsical illustrations have received awards from and have been published in annuals including Communication Arts, Society of Illustrators, AIGA, Society of Publication Designers and Creative Club of Boston. In addition, she is also the author of several of the books she has illustrated, notably Mean Soup, which received the highly respected Fiera di Bologna Graphics Prize and is a Booklist Editor's Choice. After living and working in San Francisco, New York and London, she has returned to sunny Los Angeles, where she lives with her husband and children.
