Katy Dockrill: Map Out Your Best Summer Ever

Winner of the CASEVIII Grand Gold Award and Alberta Magazines Silver Award for Illustration Katy Dockrill created the cover and interior illustrations for the Spring 2014 Feature:  Map Out Your Best Summer Ever, for the University of Alberta's Alumni Magazine, New Trail.  Katy's playful style and summery palette is the perfect touch to inspire summer fun!  When I asked art director Marcey Andrews what the response to the issue was, she said, "It’s been fantastic, truly. We even received a very complimentary email from another illustrator we’ve worked with, Raymond Biesinger (who is a UofA alumni). When he received his issue of the magazine, he sent us a very nice message, saying, ‘killer cover’."  Thank you for the 'killer' compliment Raymond!  To see more of Katy's whimsical illustrations visit her portfolio.

Tim Zeltner for the Riverdale Farm

When the Riverdale Farm's Stewardship Group first approached i2i art to commission a whimsical yet functional map of the Riverdale Farm, Tim Zeltner was chosen for his rich hand painted folk art style (actually painted on wood), and the journey to discover and depict the Farm in all it's wonder began!  Below you will see Tim really captures this gem in the heart of downtown Toronto.  The map illustration will be used on marketing materials and a give-away map for visitors.  To see more of Tim Zeltner's magical paintings visit his updated portfolio here.

Recently I attended the wonderfully successful Riverdale Farm Aid 2014 benefit, which thanks to all the enthusiastic support and dedication of it's volunteers and the community, raised the grand sum of $24,000!  At the event, the map (commissioned by the RFSG) and created by Tim Zeltner was unveiled. and large archival prints were auctioned off to benefit the farm.

An awfully cute wooly resident of the farm, not too bothered by the crowd that night nibbles on some fresh local produce.

Tour the Farm, visit the animals and chat with the farmer during daily chores.  It's a delightful way to spend a day in the 'country' without leaving the city!

Philippe Béha for VIV Magazine

Philippe Béha illustrates 5 Bogus Reasons Why You Can't Lose Weight. Working with VIV's art director, Vickie Vidana Ellman, Philippe injected a healthy dose of whimsy and humor into his depiction of the mythical excuses women make as to why they are unable to lose those extra pounds after age 40.
