Chemistry. It’s a subject most of us leave behind in high school. Not so for illustrator Dave Murray. Dave often finds inspiration for his art in science and technology, so the chance to collaborate with creative director Michal Waissmann at Mount Royal University’s Summit Magazine for the article ‘The Chemistry Between Us’ was a perfect opportunity.
Illustrating what we only can theorize about, Dave Murray’s bold use of color and geometric shape creates visuals that jump off the page. Conceptually Dave also had a lot of fun; the easily recognizable image of a spider but with a science beaker for a body was an entirely clever way to communicate the concept at hand - chemistry is nature. With our world being held up alongside all the other atoms we see clearly - chemistry is everywhere and everything.
